Dramatic Insurance Premium Increase?

I have an insurance policy for my 7 year old cat with Pets Best at the moment. Previously the premium was $42 a month, but I received a letter in the mail that it's going up to $77. They said it's not because of my cat, but rather that medical care costs more across the board now. Does this seem reasonable, or should I switch to another company? My cat doesn't have any current medical conditions other than a birth defect which is already considered a preexisting condition and I haven't had to take him into the vet for it. Thanks!
